The Low Carbon Research Institute is an all-Wales university research programme led by Cardiff University’s Welsh School of Architecture which received ERDF convergence funding for its new energy project.

The overarching aim of the project is to pull together expertise on energy research and create a strategic coordinated approach to the industrial energy research and development sector in Wales.

The institute will do this by allocating funding to industrial energy research projects, helping Welsh businesses to develop innovative carbon reduction projects in order to meet strict government-set carbon emission targets.

Professor Phil Jones, Chair of the Low Carbon Research Institute says the funding “will significantly add to the LCRI’s research capacity to establish Wales as an international leader in low carbon research.”
